We have partnered with a well-established creative agency with expertise in custom exhibition and display stands. Based in the Inner West, Sydney, they work with various clients and partner agencies to provide spectacular activations and installations all around the country. With over 20 years in the industry this agency is well-respected as a leader in the field, and this role is a truly exciting and rare opportunity to move into senior leadership and with the opportunity to become a partner in the agency.

We are on the lookout for a skilled CAD/CAM Design & Drafter at this agency, you will play a pivotal role in their creative construction team, contributing to the conceptualisation and design of activation builds while ensuring exceptional service and delivery. You will collaborate closely with their community of clients, suppliers, and internal teams to transform design visions into captivating experiences, aligning with their commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality control.

OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:

• Interpret client and internal design briefs, translating them into build design concepts that align with client objectives and Agency build practices
• Develop technical drawings, material & finishes boards, to communicate construction build concepts effectively
• Work closely with the Production Manager to ensure seamless execution of all builds
• Set up assembly drawings and floor plans for installation
• Conduct post-event evaluations and debriefs to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement, contributing to the continuous enhancement of their activation experiences

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Involvement in all aspects of the technical design process
• Taking design briefs to interpret requirements and develop appropriate construction methods and tooling and materials
• 2D & 3D Drawing preparations for manufacture, including technical drawings
• Develop CNC files, entering correct parameters and exporting job programs to the machine
• Supporting the production department by liaising with builders and machine operators
• Variety of CAD work including site plans, build drawings and realistic renders
• Concept development and design
• Workflow management - communicating clear timelines for all work to be completed and managing requests for all work that will come from the wider team
• Conducting quality assurance and compliance checks on all projects
• Ensure CAD design output is consistent - develop standard sheet layouts and a standard title block

This is a fast paced, highly dynamic position that will suit a very organised and driven individual with a passion and excitement for set building and brand activations.

SKILLS:

• Degree level qualification in drafting or equivalent
• 3 + years of design experience
• Skilled in using design software 2D and 3D (AutoCad and Sketchup preferably)
• CNC programming with AlphaCAM an advantage
• Adobe Creative Suite (photoshop and illustrator
• Google G Suite user experience
• A strong portfolio showcasing relevant project experience
• A passion for product development and design
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes
• Have the ability to learn quickly and show a willingness to be hands on
• Good understanding of manufacturing and woodworking principles
• An eye for detail, quality control, and cost efficiency
• Well organised and proficient in time management
• Good interpersonal and communication skills to enable development of good working relationships with the team and clients
• Ability to work as part of a team as well as work autonomously with minimal supervision
